Tunisia finished behind Senegal in the second place in Group B. Thus, they will be facing Group A winners in the first quarter-final of the ongoing tournament in Gabon. The host nation failed to make it past the group stages.

These two sides have faced each other in the 1998 African Cup of Nations quarter-final clash. The match ended in 1-1 after the extra time and Burkina Faso progressed to the last four after beating Tunisia on penalties.
