Following his split with Angelina Jolie, actor Brad Pitt has been reconnecting with ex-wife Jennifer Aniston. Pitt reportedly started chatting with the 'Friends' star and wished her a happy birthday on 11 February, as she turned 48.

As per US Weekly, Pitt didn't have Aniston's cell phone number following their divorce in 2005 but tracked the number down through various contacts, to reach her. A source close to Aniston said "They started talking once he wished her a happy birthday," adding that Pitt has confided in Jennifer Aniston, who is married to actor Justin Theroux. "Brad told her he's having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past," the insider added, as noted by US Weekly.

Another source close to Brad Pitt told New York Post "They have been texting and have been in touch. There has just been some friendly back and forth, nothing more than that." This was published in a report in New York Post's 'Page Six' section. They have also learnt from a different source that "It isn't romantic at all, they are friends again. They made it seem like Brad was running after Jen, and that isn't true. It is nothing more than they are back in touch with each other."

As for Aniston's husband Justin Theroux, he doesn't mind the former couple getting back in touch. "Justin is OK with them being friends," notes the source close to Aniston, adding Theroux knows "Jen just wants to be nice." Brad Pitt married Jennifer Anniston on July 2000. However, he started getting close with Angelina Jolie while shooting for their film 'Mr & Mrs Smith' and eventually parted ways in 2005.

Upon hearing the news of Pitt and Jolie's separation, Aniston, as per an insider of US Weekly, said, "Yeah, that's karma for you!" while discussing the news with a friend. The source had added "She didn't feel that Angelina was truly the one who Brad was meant to stay with. She always felt that Angelina was too complex for him. He's a pretty simple guy."

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September, last year after marrying in 2014. The 'Lara Croft' star will retain custody of all their six children. Speaking on the issue, Justin Theroux had told Business Insider, "As a child of divorce all I can say is that's terrible news for those children and that's all you can really say."

"It's boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time, that's horrible," he added.

Another second source for Aniston had told US Weekly in September, "Jen does wish Brad luck and the best. She feels like she's happy and she wants him to be happy too," adding "Jen does not hold on to any negativity from her marriage to Brad."
