Actor Jared Leto's version of the Joker character in Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment's 'Suicide Squad' made a tremendous buzz on the internet, thanks to the crazy pop star psychopath look that was created for the actor by the makeup artists for the film. Those artists picked an Oscar at the 89th Academy Awards, for the fantastic makeover. Now it has been learned that BIGBANG's T.O.P himself was an inspiration for Leto's mad look.

Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini and Christopher Nelson of 'Suicide Squad' won the Oscar for Makeup and Hairstyling. Before the awards ceremony began, notes Koreaboo, all the nominees for Makeup and Hairstyling displayed an exhibit showing makeup stills from the films. For 'Suicide Squad' a photo of T.O.P was found lying among a pile of others stills from the film's production. This showed T.O.P with the same hair as the Joker.

It was quite surprising that a fantasy superhero movie won over more serious art-house fares like 'A Man Called Ove' and sci-fi space saga Star Trek Beyond, especially when critics and fans gave thumbs down to the film.

This new incarnation of the cinematic joker was much closer to the comic books than the previous incarnations, including Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. Sadly, most of Leto's scenes ended up on the cutting room floor and the film was also derided by critics and viewers alike. However, makeup artists Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson seem to be indebted to T.O.P for fetching them an Academy award.

The photo of T.O.P with slicked back green hair is unmistakably an inspiration for the Joker's look in the DC super villain ensemble film. Also, it is quite generous of Hollywood to give credit to South Korean singers and the boy band BIGBANG. Joker's look had become a sensation back then with the word 'damaged' appearing on Jared Leto's forehead, tattoos on his body.

This was the bling version of the Joker that had everyone talking. The extreme look may have been created to differentiate the character from Heath Ledger's character in Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight.' The late actor's cult performance as the psychotic villain got him an Oscar in 2009.
