Singapore: 25-year-old man dies after crashing car into divider on East Coast Road

A 25-year-old man died in Singapore after his car crashed into a centre divider on East Coast Road on Monday morning. No one else was injured in the accident.

According to the reports, it is believed that his car skidded while travelling towards Mountbatten Road. The incident happened opposite Siglap Centre at 5.30 am. It was raining heavily when the accident took place.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the man was trapped inside the car and they had to extricate him. The paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Alan, a resident who lives in a landed home nearby, said he was awakened by the crash noise.

"I thought a building collapsed. I heard a few bangs and called the police," he told the The Straits Times.

The 47-year-old man also said that when he looked out of his window, he saw a few passers-by trying to help the man. He also added that those people could not unlock the car door.

Other people said the car accident caused a traffic jam for about two hours in the area.
