Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane revelled in his team's performance against Barcelona in the second leg of the Supercopa de Espana, lauding them "spectacular" after their triumph, according to Goal.

Real Madrid are now Champions League, La Liga, Uefa Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup holders, having added the Supercopa de Espana to their trophy cabinet last night as they beat their rivals 2-0 at the Bernabeu with goals from Asensio and Karim Benzema.

In less than two years in charge, Zinedine Zidane has led Real to two Champions Leagues, and the 2016-17 La Liga title. And on this performance, they are going to be hard to beat again.

The Spanish and European champions were dominant on the night, without the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo, and cruised to a 2-0 victory over their bitter rivals on Wednesday, sealing a 5-1 aggregate triumph over two legs for Los Blancos. Marco Asensio's goal was the pick of the bunch.

Zinedine Zidane heaped praise on Real Madrid after they claimed yet another trophy, highlighting his team's spectacular first-half performance.

"In the first half, we were spectacular. The intensity and pressure, and possession of the ball. The second half suffered a little because Barca attacked us."

"The team is still hungry, you see that every game."

Asensio was at it again at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring another stunner to send Madrid on their way in the Spanish capital.

The Spain international opened the scoring on the night with a 35-yard strike which left Marc-Andre ter Stegen helpless.

The 21-year-old sensation – playing instead of Gareth Bale – had also netted a long-rage strike in the opening leg last week.

And Karim Benzema flicked up Marcelo's cross and turned defender Samuel Umtiti to fire home a second with Barcelona rarely looking like coming back.

Real eased off in the second half, with the cup practically wrapped up, and Barca improved slightly as a result, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez hitting the woodwork.

Zidane reserved special praise for Marco Asensio, as reported by the Express.

Zidane said: "I enjoyed Marco's goal, as I like football, and with a goal like this, I can only be impressed, like everyone who enjoys football."
