The privilege of jailbreaking an iOS device untethered with just a click of a button is no longer possible, as the developers have barely pulled-off a semi-tethered IPA-based jailbreak solution for iOS 10 - 10.2 these days. However, a recent flurry of tweets from a developer named Lang Shi is pointing to a potential untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 10 in the works.

According to the tweet, the jailbreak in question would be based on the existing yalu102 semi-tethered tool and would make use of two new kernel UAF bugs in iOS 10.3b7. It is ascertained that the tweet was posted nearly 20-hours ago and it was accompanied by a follow-up tweet detailing a bit more on the mysterious untether tool:

"Btw my "untetherer" tool for iOS 10.x is almost ready, turn your semi-tethered Yalu into fully untethered with 1 tap!"

The jailbreak community seems pretty inspired by this tweet as it was accompanied with a couple of screenshots explaining the functionality of the tool and its working principle.

The first screenshot clearly shows the "go for it" button while the second one reveals the text "untether installed" as the result of the action performed. Although both the screenshots look genuine, the claim should be taken with a pinch of salt due to the unsubstantial evidence being showcased at the moment.

However, the developer has confirmed through a follow-up tweet that one particular kernel exploit is still found compatible with the latest beta of iOS 10.3. Quite surprisingly, the same untether tool is found to work flawlessly for all iPhone 7 users who are jailbroken on iOS 10.1.

Although nothing seems to be set in stone at the moment, we can only hope that the claim indeed turns out true in the coming days.
