Xbox One owners are in for some great news as Microsoft has promised special add-on content and expansion packs for popular 2016 game titles such as Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, ReCore, Dead Rising 4 and Minecraft. The growing popularity of Xbox One backwards compatible games has inspired Microsoft to confirm fresh list of Xbox 360 games for this month, which will be playable on any Xbox One console as well as the PC.

In its New Year note addressing Xbox fans, Microsoft has highlighted some of its best titles of 2016 that topped the popularity charts at different levels while also hinting at a "special year" of 2017 for Xbox gamers.

Confirming a handful of promising game titles for this year, Microsoft has listed out Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, For Honor, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, TEKKEN 7, Thimbleweed Park, Mass Effect Andromeda and 'South Park: The Fractured but Whole and Tacoma' as some of its forthcoming flagship titles for Xbox One and PC.

Not to mention, the Halo fans are in for a treat as the Redmond Company has confirmed the launch of Halo Wars 2 on 21 February. Furthermore, Xbox gamers are expected to receive more exciting add-on content from Microsoft's third-party partners and game developers.

Microsoft has also divulged its plans to launch its most powerful console Xbox 2 aka Project Scorpio while also adding new feature enhancements to its Xbox Live portfolio.

Currently there are around 309 backwards compatible Xbox 360 games for Xbox One and it looks like the numbers will surely go up in the coming years, as Microsoft seems too keen on expanding its massive fleet of cross-platform game titles for consoles and PC.
