A new research by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) has revealed that wearing skinny jeans, hoodies, and necklaces could have a serious impact on health. Experts have warned that these could cause a bad back and furthermore, cross-body bags and bell sleeves might aggregate it.

BCA's healthcare practitioner Tim Hutchful told to Sky News that heavy hoods can cause neck strain, while skinny jeans restrict movement, even when the wearer is just walking. The research also warned women wearing high heels and backless shoes on health damages. The survey that was conducted among 1,062 people, found 73 percent had suffered back pain, while 28 percent were aware clothing could have an effect on health. However, an alarming 33 percent were completely unaware of the role of garments in causing health issues.

"I am always surprised at how many of my patients are unaware that their clothing and accessories can affect their back health and their posture, and equally how many decide their outfit-choice outweighs their pain. Some of the most popular items of clothing can have a hidden health impact," Hutchful was quoted as saying. The report stated that poor posture, overly aggressive workouts or awkward sleeping positions are often to blame — with clothes often overlooked.

While it is not surprising to see heavy handbags, high heels, and heavy jewelry on the list, some unexpected items like skinny jeans, hoods, asymmetric hemlines, oversized sleeves, and other items were shocking. For example, the research states skinny jeans will restrict free movement in areas such as the hips and knees while oversized sleeves can affect the movement of arms.

"Restrictive clothing can lead to a loss of 'bounce' in your stride and the natural shock-absorbing qualities in your walk, causing pressure on your joints," he added.

Hutchful further added that moderate use of these fashion favorite clothes could reduce the health impacts. Well, it is impossible to stop wearing these favorite clothing altogether. Other top tips include looser fits such as baggy trousers, maxi skirts or straight leg jeans and reducing the weight of heavy handbags - a particularly common cause of back pain in women.
