Singapore defender Daniel Bennett has warned his teammates not to take his side's upcoming clash against Thailand lightly in the AFF Suzuki Cup.

The 38-year-old has returned to the national side for the first time since 2012 for the ongoing tournament in Philippines. Both Singapore and Thailand will face each other at the Philippine Sports Stadium, Bulacan on 20 November, Tuesday.

Bennett, who plys his trade with Singapore outfit Geylang International has limited knowledge on the current crop of the War Elephants' players. Thailand entered the AFF Suzuki Cup after settling fro a 2-2 draw against Australia in the World Cup qualifier and started the tournament with a bang with a 4-2 comfortable victory over Indonesia.

He heaped praise on Thailand coach Kiatisuk Senamuang for his efforts in improving the national team ahead of the two teams' clash on Tuesday.

"To be honest, I don't know about this generation because I had nothing to do with the national team for almost four years and I have not played against this Thailand team," Bennett said, as quoted by FourFourTwo.

"But their recent match against Australia, they showed that they can compete with the top teams in Asia.

"I think the coach (Kiatisuk Senamuang) has done a fantastic job... so to play against them, it's gonna be a very hard game because they have technique, they have quality, but they also have teamwork. It's probably the most important."

Singapore, on the other hand were forced to settle for a goalless draw in their opening match against hos nation Philippines . The former will be looking to clinch their first win of the tournament when they take on Thailand.
