Star Wars: The Last Jedi to show Luke Skywalker disillusioned with Jedi path?

Now it seems that Luke has lost faith in the Jedi path, at least according to a report.

The path of a Jedi has been treated as the highest spiritual path in the Star Wars canon. It is a Jedi who has the potential to be one with the Force; an energy that flows through all living things in the galaxy and binds them. Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Luke Skywalker were all Jedi. Now it seems that Luke has lost faith in the Jedi path, at least according to a report anyway.

It was recently revealed in the 'Twin Suns' episode of 'Star Wars Rebels' that Luke is the chosen one to bring balance to the Force. Obi-Wan believed in Luke's father Anakin being the chosen one, but the latter betrayed everyone and became the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. However, he did redeem himself in the end; thanks to his son Luke.

Similarly, Luke had faith in Han Solo and Leia's son Ben, but he too betrayed his master and turned to the dark side to follow in the footsteps of his late grandfather, Anakin. Taking the moniker Kylo Ren, Ben Solo formed the Knights of Ren and killed all the Jedi that Luke had been training. He even murdered his father, Han Solo in cold blood. It is quite expected that Luke, who has spent ages hiding in Ahch-To, the first Jedi temple, would have become disillusioned with the ways of the Jedi.

Express UK mentions that Star Wars News Net has learned from a source that Luke is having a serious crisis of faith following Ben Solo's betrayal. The purported leaks reveal that Luke has discovered various Jedi artifacts over the years only to find out they are forgeries or that they no longer reflect the original purpose behind their making.

The source has also claimed that Luke has begun doubting the teachings of his master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and the Jedi way. He also apparently doubts his father Anakin, which is odd considering until the very last moment Luke had no reason to trust him at all. It is only in his dying moments that he redeems himself by killing Palpatine.

Express UK suggests Luke may have stumbled upon some dark and devastating secrets about the Jedi that has shaken his faith in the order, once and for all. The final scene in 'The Force Awakens' revealed to us a broken, haggard looking Luke who has isolated himself from the rest of the galaxy. It'd take a lot of convincing by Rey to bring Luke back into the fold. He might want to avenge the deaths of his Jedi students by killing Kylo Ren, or might train Rey to accomplish that task.

In any case, Luke Skywalker's return will no doubt have far-reaching consequences in the galaxy, one that might result in the destruction of the Galactic Empire forever or the final eradication of the Jedi knights.

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' releases on December 15, this year.
