Spackman provides seed funding to Korean film production firm The Makers Studio

Spackman Entertainment on Thursday said it has invested about US$225,0001 as seed funding in the Korean film production firm The Makers Studio.

Spackman Entertainment on Thursday said it has invested about US$225,000 as seed funding in the Korean film production firm The Makers Studio.

Spackman now owns 20 percent stake in The Makers Studio following the investment, the company said in a statement.

The Makers Studio plans to produce and release four films from 2018 to 2020, with a tentative budget of about US$2.7 million, excluding prints and advertising costs.

The investment by Spackman will be fully funded in cash by the company's internal resources.

"We expect The Makers Studio to leverage on the Group's networks and resources to increase the visibility and distribution channels of its pipeline of upcoming films. The Group will continue to eye quality early stage Korean film production companies in its objective to strengthen its existing film production business," said Charles Spackman, Chief Executive Officer of Spackman Entertainment in a statement.

Shares in Spackman Entertainment ended up 1 percent at S$0.11 on the Singapore Exchange on Thursday.
