Descendants of the Sun actress Song Hye Kyo is visiting Japan today to spread knowledge on Korean history, as a part of the Korean Independence Movement program. Song will be distributing pamphlet titled 'Meeting our history overseas - Tokyo,' which would have a historic timeline on the Korean monuments across the city.
"I hope that even something this small will help Korean tourists in Tokyo has a little more interest in Korean history that's all over the world," Song was quoted by All K-Pop. Printed in both Japanese and Korean with insights from Professor Seo Kyung Deok, this initiative is likely to help tourist to have a more detailed insight of the Korean history. March 1 is commemorated as the Movement Day in Korean history—a day that marked Koreans' open revolt against the Japanese colonies and fought for independence.
Song Hye Kyo has become the most sought out actress in Korea, post the massive success of Descendants of the Sun that achieves pan-Asia success. Some of her well-known television dramas include Autumn in My Heart, All In, Full House, That Winter and the Wind Blows. She has also starred in films like Hwang Jin Yi, The Grandmaster, My Brilliant Life and The Queens.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Song's next project. Though there are speculations on the sequel of Descendants of the Sun, she is yet to make any official statement. Meanwhile, at recent fans meet in Taiwan, she said that she would like to star in a film like the Hollywood blockbuster Pretty Woman.
When quipped about the massive success of DOTS, she said: "For me, 2016 was a year that began and finished with Descendants of the Sun. People usually forget about a drama six months after it finished airing. However, in the case of DOTS, it is different.I'm thankful that people remembered it for such a long time."
