Although 2018 Winter Olympic Games is surrounded by many problems, the Singaporean ice-skater Cheyenne Goh has decided to represent her country for the first time in its sports history in the Olympics at South Korea.

The 18-year-old Goh is the first Winter Olympian from the South-East Asian country. After a competition at International Skating Union (ISU) World Cup Short Track Speed Skating series, Goh achieved the qualification berth for 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Games.

On the other hand, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) suspended Russia from 2018 Winter Olympics over doping concerns.

However, players from Russia would still take part in Pyeongchang Games but there are some conditions. Those athletes will be competing in uniforms, where 'Olympic Athlete from Russia' will be written under the Olympic Flag and the Olympic Anthem will be played in any ceremony.

Another confusion aroused when Nikki Haley, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations said that it remained an "open question" whether US athletes will attend the competition or not.

On 7 December, Thursday the White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has tweeted something positive about America's participation in the Winter Games, where she stated, "The U.S. looks forward to participating in the Winter Olympics in South Korea. The protection of Americans is our top priority and we are engaged with the South Koreans and other partner nations to secure the venues."

The competition is going to start from 9 February to 25 February in South Korea's Pyeongchang. The ongoing complications between North and South Korea, including the nuclear missile tension, have raised security concerns among participant countries.

Despite the war-like scenario in South Korea, Singapore teenager Goh is preparing to live her Winter Olympic dreams and looking for a historic achievement in the tournament for her nation but the American side is still in dilemma about their athletes' participation in the upcoming Winter Olympics.
