Singapore police have arrested two men, aged 24 and 26, after they were allegedly found stealing motorcycle parts and selling them on Facebook. The police said that they were alerted about motorcycles being stolen in the Woodlands and Marsiling housing estates. Most of the thefts happened between end-February and mid-March 2017, reported a news release on Thursday.

The culprits were arrested on 22 March, after identifying them with police cameras. The 24-year-old and 26-year-old were nabbed at the Woodlands and Tuas Checkpoints, respectively. A plier, two spanners and a set of hex keys were seized from the 24-year-old suspect, reported Channel News Asia.

Both the miscreants will be charged in court on Friday for theft, said the police. If convicted, they can be given jail sentence up to seven years. Moreover, a fine can also be levied.

Motorcycle owners were advised by authorities to take precautions such as parking their vehicles in well-lit areas, installing anti-theft alarm systems, securing their vehicles with locking devices. They have also been urged to verifying parts before purchasing and always choose a legitimate dealer.
