A 26-year-old Singaporean student was arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers on suspicion of ordering cannabis from an online website, the bureau said on Saturday. The CNB was informed about the presence of a suspicious parcel containing about 136g of cannabis on Friday. After an investigation, it was revealed that the 26-year-old student was the intended recipient of the parcel. The CNB officers said the suspect used an assumed name in an attempt to evade detection by the police.

The CNB officers arrested the student by following up the case. The authorities also raided his house and discovered more drugs and drug paraphernalia. The drugs included cannabis in vegetable, paste and powder forms; as well as 11 pieces of LSD stamps.

According to CNB, the investigations into this case are going on. The authorities said the agency would continue to address the trend of drug abuse by youths and online drug peddling "through a comprehensive approach of enforcement, education and engagement".
