Singapore N-Level results: Record students to proceed to Secondary 5

A record number of Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) students who sat for the N-Level examination this year are eligible to move on to Secondary 5.

Among the 12,305 Normal (Academic) students who received their results, 75.2 percent will move to Secondary 5 where they will sit for their O-Level exam next year. That's higher than 72.6 percent in 2011 to 74.9 percent last year.

The results were jointly released by the Ministry of Education and Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board on Monday.

Of the 9,983 students from the Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) course who sat for the examinations, 99.4 percent were awarded the General Certificate of Education Normal (Academic)-Level certificate - a decline from last year's 99.6 percent.

As for students in the Secondary 4 Normal (Technical) stream who sat for the exam, 96.6 percent have been awarded the General Certificate of Education Normal (Technical)-Level certificate - down from last year's 97.1 percent.
