Singapore custodian Hassan Sunny is all set to play a couple of friendly matches in Japan in the coming week after third-tier side Gainare Tottori sent him an invite to join the side.

The 33-year-old, who recently signed a one-year-contract with S.League giants Home United, has left for Japan earlier this morning to join the Osaka-based team. Notably, Hassan was released by Thai Premier League (TPL) side Army United after the 2016 season following the end of his two-year-stint in Thailand.

Hassan had revealed that he would try to get back to Thailand after completing a year with Home. However, the unexpected Japanese offer has pleased the Lions custodian, who had already featured twice for Home during their 7-3 aggregate win over Cambodia's Phnom Penh Crown in the AFC Cup 2017 qualifiers.

While maintaining that he is not thinking about a potential offer from the club, Hassan revealed that he would be fair to Home, whom he thanked for allowing him to play in Japan. Notably, the offer for the veteran goalkeeper comes days after Geylang International midfielders Gabriel Quak and Shawal Anuar got an opportunity to attend trials with J-League second-tier side Matsumoto Yamaga.

"I can't say enough of how excited I am. One thing is for sure, I will share whatever I learn there with the younger boys here," Hassan said, as quoted by The New Paper.

"It is my dream to play in Japan, and even if it is not to sign for the club, but to play in a couple of friendlies, I will be satisfied. I must thank my club chairman and the management for allowing me to take up this opportunity, especially at such short notice.

"I have been invited by the club to train with them, and I am not thinking about signing for them or anything like that for now. I am just going there to train, play two games, and hopefully make a mark.

"Even if they [Gianare Tottori] want me, they will have to go through the proper procedures. I am very aware that I'm contracted to Home. I have to be fair to Home United and also fair to myself."
