Singapore: Construction worker dies at PUB site in Marina South

The worker was proclaimed dead by the SCDF paramedics at the scene.

A 30-year-old construction worker died on Thursday in Marina South after being hit by falling equipment at a PUB worksite.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said in a statement on Friday that the person was working at the bottom of a shaft in the ground when suddenly equipment which was lifted by a crane dislodged from the lifting slings and fell into the shaft.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were informed about the accident at the junction of Shenton Way and Marina View at around 4.05 pm. The worker was proclaimed dead by the SCDF paramedics at the scene.

PUB is the developer of the construction project and Transbuild Engineering Pte Ltd.

The MOM has issued a stop-work order within the worksite and said the cause of the accident is being investigated.
