Remember the wild boar from the Bride of the Water God? Well, many of us might have thought that the boar would be an animated one but actress Shin Se Kyung has revealed that it was indeed a real one. In an interview with Sports Donga, Se Kyung said that she was excited to see a wild boar and even shot a scene with it. "I was excited about the wild boar chase. Everyone thinks it was completely CG, but there was a real wild boar at the shooting site. We even shot a scene with it. It was so cute. This is the first time I've seen a wild boar so close."

The actress also discussed overcoming her water phobia while shooting for the drama. Se Kyung apparently suffers from Aquaphobia after falling into a pool during her childhood and finds it extremely difficult to hold her breath underwater. However, she overcame her phobia to shoot the underwater scenes with the water god.

The Bride of the Water God is a spin-off of the 2006 sunjung manhwa of the same name by Yoon Mi-kyung. The drama starred Se Kyung, Nam Joo Hyuk, Lim Ju Hwan, Krystal Jung and Gong Myung in lead roles. The drama revolved around a narcissistic water god Habaek—who visits earth to find a powerful stone to claim his throne. He seeks the help of his servant and destined bride, psychiatrist So-ah. The story takes a twist when Habaek falls for his servant.

Despite the hype and expectations created before the premiere of the drama, it received a mixed response from netizens. Reason? Fans expected the drama to be like Goblin—with a sensational storyline—but after the drama's first episode, fans felt that the characters were not well detailed like the manga.
