Selena Gomez's mother is unhappy with the singer's relationship with The Weeknd. Mandy Teefey feels the Starboy hitmaker is a bad influence on the former Disney star.

A source told Life & Style: "Mandy has met Abel and thinks he is respectful in person, but she doesn't think he's a good influence on Selena. She doesn't approve of his dirty and drug-related lyrics."

"A lot of Selena's friends and family fear that she'll go down the wrong path again. They feel she needs to be surrounded by healthy people," the insider added.

Mandy Teefey was just 16 when she gave birth to Gomez, and raised her as a single parent after divorcing her father Carlos when Gomez was five. The two moved to California from Texas so she could pursue her career as a child star.

Gomez won her first role alongside Demi Lovato on Barney & Friends in 2002, when she was just nine years old. She won her big break on Disney show Wizards Of Waverly Place.

The Springbreakers star is currently taking a break from music and concentrating on her health after being diagnosed with lupus. She was dealing with anxiety, depression and panic attacks as side effects of the autoimmune disease.
