SBS drama The Legend of the Blue Sea surpasses 20% ratings milestone

The popularity of the fantasy drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" is not only limited to South Korea

The SBS drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" continues to be at the top in the Wednesday-Thursday drama ratings race. The fantasy drama starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun has broken through the mark of 20 percent rating with its episode 17.

"The 17th episode of the SBS drama, which aired on Jan. 12, Thursday, recorded nationwide viewership ratings of 20.8 percent,. The series' latest rating also posted an increase from the previous episode's 18.9 percent viewership share," Nielsen Korea said, according to Yonhap News.

The popularity of the fantasy drama "The Legend of the Blue Sea" is not only limited to South Korea, it is gaining huge popularity in Singapore, Philippines, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Los Angeles as well as Canada.

The new KBS 2TV drama "Naked Fireman" of Lee Joon Hyuk and Jung In Sun ranked in 4.1 percent, and MBC's "Missing 9" got 2.7 percent viewership rating.

In the fantasy drama, the story continues with Heo Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho) facing the consequences of heart breaking events in the episode 17. Fans have been curious as in the latest episode Shim Chung's (Jun) secret is about to come out and Heo Joon Jae's father, Heo Gil Joong (Choi Jung Woo), dies.

In other news, "Legend of the Blue Sea" star Lee Min Ho is planning to celebrate his 10 year anniversary marking his debut. Lee Min Ho will be holding a special fan meet, titled "The Originality of Lee Min Ho," at the Grand Peace Hall, Kyung Hee University. The meet-and-greet event will be taking place on Feb. 18 at 6:00 PM (KST) and on Feb. 19 at 4:00 PM

According to All Kpop, MYM Entertainment said in a statement, "Due to conflicting drama filming schedules and such, we were unable to hold the event last year. So we pushed it back to February, once filming has concluded."
