Qualcomm's new flagship Snapdragon 835 SoC is all set to bring about many improvements to the high-end smartphones. The expected enhancements include 27 percent better performance with up to 40 percent less power consumption than "the previous generation." With Quick Charge 4.0 it will reportedly allow users gain "five hours of battery life" from five minutes of charging. Despite incorporating these cool new features Snapdragon 835 SoC is supposed to be 30 percent smaller than the Snapdragon 820.

It is highly unlikely to see any device with this brand new Snapdragon processor at the Mobile World Congress next month but reportedly Samsung is getting its first dibs on the chip to use it in their upcoming flagship Galaxy S8 smartphones.

Beyond getting 'first dibs' the reports indicate that Samsung is essentially hoarding all or most of the initial supply for the next-generation chip so it may be a while until competitors have access to it. After the debacle of Samsung Galaxy S7 the company is taking major precautions ahead of launching S8, so much so that the company is not revealing its flagship at the MWC for the first time ever.

According to reports, Samsung will officially launch the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 14 this year and it will be the first device to carry the Snapdragon 835 SoC. No other Android flagship released before it will carry this hi-tech chip. LG G6 and HTC U Ultra are expected to ship with last year's admittedly still very powerful Snapdragon 821.

The Verge was able to separately confirm with two different manufacturers that the Snapdragon 835 is indeed unavailable to them.
