Expectations are high for the forthcoming Galaxy Note 8 device in the midst of a deafening smartphone rivalry that is currently driven by Apple for its controversial tenth-anniversary offering—the iPhone 8. Samsung is ballyhooed to be doubling down its efforts and hard work for the next Galaxy Note model to give Apple a fair fight. Based on recent leaks and revelations, here are some of the things to expect so far from the Galaxy Note 8.

Specifications

In terms of build and physical design, Galaxy Note 8 leaks have made rounds recently, suggesting the phablet will debut the fingerprint sensor embedded right through the screen and an ultra-thin display bezels into the bargain. Several reliable sources of leaks believe the phablet will carry on the Galaxy S8's 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The display size could either measure 6.2 or 6.3 inches, in QHD.

Front-facing dual-camera setup speculation, which has been around since the Galaxy S8, is back. Many reports have come to believe that this feature is not far from reality since the technology is already in the market. What Samsung has to do this time is to innovate. The back panel sits another dual-camera setup which could end up vertically—12 and 8-megapixel sensors side by side.

Internally, this promising smartphone hybrid might carry 6 gigabytes of RAM to help achieve an optimum performance and up to 256 gigabytes of native memory for that extra space. These figures may not be new, it will surely be a huge buff for a Samsung mobile product. Meanwhile, international variants could be sporting an Exynos 8895 processor while the US versions are expected to wear a Snapdragon 835 processor. The device will also be packed with a 3,300mAh battery.

Price, release date

Based on the reported specs, the Galaxy Note 8 is reasonably priced at US$900 which is only a couple dollars more expensive than the original Galaxy Note 7's launch price. The device is expected to be introduced by Samsung at the IFA event in Berlin, Germany in September. Just like the Samsung tradition, pre-orders shall begin in the following month and official release by November.
