In Pictures: Wildfire leaves Californian regions devastated

In a series of wildfires that engulfed counties of California such as Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Yuba, Orange and Butte, the fiercest fires have occurred in the Napa and Sonoma counties on Monday, October 9.

A total of 7,484 Californian wildfires have burned as many as 771,765 acres over the years according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. In a series of wildfires that engulfed counties of California such as Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Yuba, Orange and Butte, the fiercest fires have occurred in the Napa and Sonoma counties on Monday, October 9. Favorable conditions, where humidity was very low, triggered the widespread of the fire from 1000 to over 20,000 acres within a single day.

As stated by CNN, the fires have claimed 11 lives. More than 20,000 people evacuated and over a hundred people have been admitted to the hospitals of Napa and Sonoma for treatments due to burns, inhaling smoke and difficulty in breathing.

Considered to be one of the world's leading viticulture regions, Napa has been one of the most affected counties by the fire as stated by the Director of CAL FIRE, Ken Pimlott. Wildfires spread over a whopping 57,000 acres in regions of Napa alone claiming two lives according to CAL FIRE. Many people had also lost power and cell service according to the Napa police.

Wildfires spread over 5,000 acres in the country of Sonoma claiming seven lives according to Sonoma's County Sheriff's Office. At least 19,000 acres had been burned in the country of Mendocino claiming one life as on Monday night. Southern California's Orange County has 6,000 acres burned by the fire.

Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency for counties such as Sonoma, Napa, Yuba, Butte, Lake, Mendocino, Orange and Nevada. The California National Guard has sent three medical evacuation helicopters, six firefighting helicopters and 100 military police personnel to the affected areas.
