An eponymous remake of the 1989 horror film "Pet Sematary" is slated to release on April 19 in 2019, say makers.

The film's production house Paramount Pictures announced the news on Thursday, reports variety.com.

"Pet Sematary" was based on the 1983 Stephen King novel by the same name.

The movie will be directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian producing the remake.

Jeff Buhler and David Kajganich are on board to pen the script.

The original "Pet Sematary," directed by Mary Lambert, was based on the unravelling of a family after moving into a new home in Maine next to a pet cemetery that contained the power to allow the creatures buried in it to come back from the dead.
