Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan responds to loot box complaints

Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan sheds light on the complaints of players pertaining to loot boxes.

Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has responded to complaints pertaining to loot boxes. Players have turned to the community forum of Overwatch on its website to report the unbelievably high cost of loot boxes.

Earlier this week, the Overwatch Anniversary Event had started. Complaints began to flood the game on Reddit about the loot boxes that contain 108 pieces in total. It turned out in calculations the loot boxes cost more 56,000 credits to purchase. This is way more than preceding events of the game.

According to the calculated value of the loot boxes, one that has 11 Legendary skins costs only 33,000 credits, more than 40 percent less than the figure in question. Fortunately, Kaplan has shed light on the matter via the Overwatch website.

"I just wanted to acknowledge that we've been following the threads about the loot box rewards as they pertain to the anniversary events, other events and loot boxes in general. The feedback and suggestions have been helpful to us", writes Kaplan. "We had a really great discussion yesterday about the feedback we've been hearing this week. While I don't have any immediate action items to report, I thought it was important for you to know that we are listening".

Despite this, many players have been annoyed that Overwatch did not take the matter into its hands immediately and fix the problem.

The Overwatch Anniversary Event runs until 12 June. Blizzard offers a free weekend starting today until midnight of 29 May PT. The free weekend is a free access to the full roster of 24 heroes, map, and modes of the event.
