Paris Saint-Germain hope to sneak ahead of Manchester City in the race for Alexis Sanchez in order to fulfill a promise they made to Neymar when he signed for the club.

The report states that Neymar included Sanchez on his "wish list" when PSG asked what it would take to prize the Brazilian from Barcelona earlier this year.

With his contract set to expire next June, it's reported that Sanchez could be offered around £300,000 a week to move to Parc des Princes, as well as a £9m signing-on fee if he agrees a deal in January.

Neymar moved to the French capital from Barcelona for a world-record fee of £198m this summer. And since joining the Ligue 1 giants, the Brazilian has formed a formidable forward line alongside Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe.

But reports suggest PSG want to replace Cavani with Arsenal's Sanchez, whom Neymar included in his 'wish list' during negotiations with the club, as reported by the Dailymail.

Sanchez and Neymar are friends and the Brazilian singled out his former Barcelona team-mate as someone he wanted PSG to sign, according to French paper Le Parisien.

Any deal could reportedly see Cavani leave, with the club needing to sell players to balance their books and avoid breaking Financial Fair Play regulations.

That would leave PSG needing to sell players to balance the books, however, with Uefa already opening a Financial Fair Play investigation into the club's transfer activity.

Edinson Cavani is thought to lead the list of potential departures, despite patching things up with Neymar over the pair's penalty dispute, with Julian Draxler another member of the squad deemed surplus to requirements, as per ESPN.

Even if Sanchez opt against joining PSG, however, relations between Neymar and Cavani are no longer an issue, according to team-mate Yuri Berchiche.

The pair rowed over who should take a penalty during their victory over Lyon last month, But Berchiche claims: "Neymar and Cavani get on well. They made peace after what happened that day. Since then, the coach (Unai Emery) decides who takes penalties for each match."
