Malaysia's stock exchange receives a bomb threat on Friday afternoon and staff and tenants at the Bursa Malaysia Building were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The police immediately cordoned off the building and a canine unit (K9) was also deployed at the scene.

The Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia Tajuddin Atan said the threat was received at around noon. He also said there was no major incident.

Reports say that a call was first received by the building's management that explosives had been placed at the building and it would be detonated after the Muslim Friday prayers.

Almost three hours later, the police gave the green light for the public to re-enter the building at 3.30 pm. The evacuees were allowed to return to their work.
