Malaysia's Port Klang faced a major accident on Sunday as 10 people suffered burns caused by fireworks during New Year's day celebration at the Pandamaran Sports Complex.

Malay Mail reported the Selangor Fire and Rescue Service director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul, saying three of them suffered serious burns. While the critically injured were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, the other seven victims were treated on the spot by a medical team for slight injuries.

The news website also said that the fireworks exploded on the ground instead of in the air and burnt people who stood nearby.

It was also reported that the Selangor Fire was alerted about the incident at around 12.10am (local time). A fire truck, with seven firefighters, was immediately rushed to the spot.
