The cast of the 2019 live-action Lion King film has finally been announced and the fans have been going gaga about it since Wednesday night. Over the past few months, there were several speculations in bits and whispers but now the makers have made it official and trust me it's an extremely well-put-together ensemble.

Earlier, the studio had confirmed that Donald Glover will be the lead in the project, but there were rumours about Beyonce's presence in the film. So, now it's confirmed that Beyonce will be the voice behind Nala and the songstress's fans are extremely happy about it. Meanwhile, Childish Gambino will don the hat of Simba.

This time, the film will feature a number of black American actors. As announced earlier, James Earl Jones will reprise the role of Mufasa in the remake, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will play Scar and Alfre Woodard will voice Sarabi.

In addition to this ensemble, late night TV show host John Oliver will voice Zazu. The film also includes John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon and Keegan-Michael Key as a hyena.

Disney has revealed that Jon Favreau, who was behind the successful live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, is all set to direct Lion King. Reportedly, Hans Zimmer will be producing the music for the remake.

Ever since the announcement, Lion King fans have been expressing their reaction on various platforms of social media.

The film is set to be released on July 19, 2019.
