Kim Yoo Jung turns down lead role in School 2017

It was recently revealed that the most-loved School series is back again. The 2017 edition of the series will be aired in July after the completion of the ongoing Fight for My Way. The KBS team was also in talks with actress Kim Yoo Jung to play the female lead in the series.

Recently, Kim Yoo Jung's agency Sidus HQ confirmed the news through a statement and further revealed that she is considering the role optimistically. However, the agency confirmed that the actress has turned down the role due to prior commitments.

It is the seventh installment of the School series, which was aired from 1999-2002 and then in 2012 and 2015. Actor Kim Jung Hyun is likely to play the male lead while Gugudan's Kim Sejong is considered for a key role. Reportedly, the production team is on a lookout for a suitable female lead but the shortlisted names are kept under the wraps. School 2017 edition is likely to showcase the realistic lifestyle of a bunch of school students, the hardships they face, and the raw emotions they feel.

Meanwhile, Kim Yoo Jung, also known as "Korea's Little Sister" as she was a child actress, is fresh from the success of Love in the Moonlight. The drama was a coming-of-age story and youth romance set during 19th-century Joseon Dynasty based on the novel Moonlight Drawn by Clouds. Recently, In 2017, she was ranked 8th on Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list, the youngest to be included in the Top 10.

Meanwhile, the pretty actress was spotted with a sling and cast on her hand at the Incheon airport few weeks back. Soon, fans started worrying about the health of the actress. Following this, her agency clarified that it is a minor injury and she is expected to recover quickly. Her agency further added that Kim had a fall while jumping over a rope leading to a minor arm injury, however, they also clarified that they will not be any changes in her schedule.
