K-Drama viewership ratings: Goblin, Romantic Doctor lead; Watch full ratings chart here

The popularity of South Korean soap, or K-drama, has taken new highs with a clutch of shows igniting viewer interest across the world. Viewership ratings are the best yardstick to decide how good or bad a show is in terms of audience response. Well, the results vary with each week's performance. And, the drama viewership ratings for the week of January 2-8 are out.

With the reports being out, it seems the show Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim is reaching new heights after it reached all-time high ratings of 25.1 percent this week.

In spite of the stiff competition, Hwarang made a solid start for itself with 8.0 percent, leaving popular TV dramas behind, and is continuing to do fairly well week after week.

Despite being an amazing show, Night Light still remains in the last spot. And it seems that it will remain doomed and will be somewhere below the 5 percent mark as long as Romantic Doctor is airing.

For the mid-week shows, the rating are more or less same and Legend of the Blue Sea maintained its position with a high rating of 18.3 percent, is doing very well.

Oh My Geum-bi and Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju are nearing the end now, and have been doing decent especially when it is put up against one of the most popular drama Legend of the Blue Sea.

Well, the most astonishing but deserving one is The Lonely Shining Goblin -- it reached high ratings 15.0 percent is going really great. It is really insane for a cable show, it is breaking records from the very beginning of its airing. Now that it has broken its own personal record, with the way it is going, it wouldn't come as a shock if it breaks some other records soon enough.
