IU, TWICE emerge as favourite K-pop artists of 2017

IU and TWICE have topped the list of favourite K-pop artists of 2017. The survey was conducted by research company Gallup Korea and close to 4200 people aged between 13 and 59. IU topped the list with 15.2% followed by TWICE with 1.9%.

IU released two albums this year— her fourth studio album, Palette and her second cover album, A Flower Bookmark 2. Both the albums topped local charts in both album sales and downloads, making her the most popular idol.

Meanwhile, according to preference by age group, boy band BTS dominated the list. BTS was ranked first among voters aged between 13 to 18 years (with 27.4%) while they grabbed the third and sixth spot among voters in their 20s and 30s respectively.
