Overview

India are in the risk of losing a cricket series at home for the first time since October 2015 when they lost an One Day International series 3-2 against the visiting South African team. Virat Kohli's men are now 1-0 down in the ongoing Twenty20 International series after losing the first ODI in Kanpur to England by 7 wickets.

The English unit, which endured a horrible Test series in which they were thrashed 4-0, clinched its first win of the tour in the final ODI earlier this month and continued the winning momentum in the T20I series. On a slow track in Kanpur, the English pacers masterfully varied their pace and length to limit batting-heavy India to just 147, which their batsmen chased down with 11 balls to spare.

Lokesh Rahul continued his poor limited-overs form with a single-digit score, which was his third since the first ODI. Skipper Kohli, opened the batting in his first match at T20I captain but failed to convert his start into a big one. While MS Dhoni hung around with a 27-ball 36 none of the other batsmen were able to tame the English attack.

Jamatha will offer a slow wicket and the hosts were bowled out for 79 in chase of 127 the last time they played at the venue - against New Zealand during the 2016 World T20 opener. Kohli will have to rethink his batting combination and the focus will be on out-of-form Rahul. Aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is likely to make his T20I debut tomorrow.

While England look a settled all-round unit led by their in-form captain Eoin Morgan, India will want to tinker with their bowling line-up as well. While Jasprit Bumrah, who was taken to the cleaners on Thursday, is likely to make way for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the Men in Blue might opt for wicket-taker Amit Mishra over Parveez Rasool.
