PSA Marine has confirmed that the Singaporean identified as Ilzam Odit, whose body was discovered in the Karimun Anak waters near the Riau Islands on 23 December, was its employee. Odit, who was working as an engineer, fell into the sea while working at Banyan Basin under mysterious circumstances.

PSA Marine, a leading marine services provider, said that Odit was reported missing since Friday from the site where he was working. A search operation by the company was immediately launched, accompanied by the relevant Government agencies. A company spokesperson said that it is extremely sorry for the loss of Odit's family. Police have not identified the cause of the Singapore engineer's death.

"PSA Marine's management extends its deepest condolences to Mr Ilzam Odit's family and will continue to work with the relevant Government agencies to provide assistance and support to his family," the spokesperson said, according to Channel News Asia.

"PSA Marine would like to thank the Indonesian and Singaporean agencies for their assistance in the recovery and return of the body to Mr Ilzam Odit's family," he added.

Meanwhile, police have ordered an investigation into the matter and the body has been sent to the Muhammad Sani General Hospital for autopsy, said Karimun Police water police unit head First Inspector Sahata Sitorus. "We have yet to identify the cause of the death and why the body was floating in the Karimun Anak water," he said, according to Jakarta Post.

Odit's body was identified after it was discovered in Karimun on Friday and still had the identity card on it. The corpse was wearing black trousers and a white shirt with "PSA Marine" written on it.
