Overview

Peru will host Brazil in the South American leg of 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifier at the Estadio Nacional in the capital city of Lima on 15 November.

Ricardo Gareca's side are placed eighth in the group of ten after 11 games in the qualifying tournament so far. However, they have collected 14 points, which is just five less than the second-placed Uruguay's tally.

Peru are still in contention and are looking to seal a spot in Russia 2018, which will be their first World Cup since 1982. Their chances were boosted on Matchday 11 when they came back from behind to beat Paraguay 4-0, away from home.

Peru, who defeated Paraguay 4-1 on Thursday, will miss Reinaldo Talia and Miguel Trauco at the back due to suspensions, which might trouble them against an in-form Brazil who have arrived in Lima days after decimating World Cup finalists Argentina 3-0.

Tite's men dominated the game and goals from Philippe Coutinho, Neymar and Paulinho Paulino added to Argentina's woes. Gabriel Jesus has been the go-to-man for the South American side as they have gone about stamping their authority under their newly-appointed coach.

Brazil have stitched a five-match winning run, in which they have maintained four clean sheets and are on the brink of sealing the berth to Russia 2018 as sitting pretty on the top of the table with 24 points. A win on Tuesday will give be the perfect icing on the cake on what has been a good few months for them under Tite.

While Brazil defeated them in the reverse fixture in November, 2015, it was Peru who knocked the South American giants from the group stages of 2016 Copa America with a 1-0 in June. Tite's men will want to use their winning momentum and avenge their humiliating defeat as well when the two sides meet on Tuesday.
