A total of 10,118 apartments have been made available for sale by Housing & Development Board's (HDB) in Singapore in a major housing move. This includes Built-To-Order (BTO) flats and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF), as a part the company's largest sales exercise this year. This brings the total number of flats released this year to 28,069.

In case of the BTO flats, it was reported that three projects are in Punggol and six are in Bedok, Bidadari (Toa Payoh) and Kallang/Whampoa. Though the flats in Punggol are part of a non-mature estate, the flats in the other three locations are part of proper mature towns.

On the other hand, the SBF flats are in 11 non-mature towns and 14 mature towns, like Ang Mo Kio, Queenstown, Kallang and Tampines, reported Today Online. The SBF flats also include 635 2-room Flexi units, 1,266 3-room units, 2,233 4-room units, 837 5-room units, 23 3Gen units, 13 executive flats and one Multi-Generation flat.

While two-room Flexiflats are priced at $80,000 and five-room flats at S$503,000, both excluding grants, the SBF units are priced from S$75,000 to S$525,000. However, the Development Ministry said that they are trying to provide more options for home-buyers.

The National Development Minister Lawrence Wong took to Facebook to say that the flats in Bedok, Bidadari and Kallang/Whampoa are expected to be in greater demand. "So I encourage those who need flats more urgently to consider non-mature estates, where the chances of getting a flat are much higher," he wrote in his Facebook post.

The company informed their potential buyers that applications will be accepted from 22 November to 28 November and the customers can either submit it online at HDB's InfoWEB or approach any HDB Hub or HDB's branch.

The next launch by HDB will be happening in February next year and will include Clementi, Punggol, Tampines and Woodlands areas and is planning to release 4,100 flats.
