Singapore international Hafiz Abu Sujad's stint in Thailand has hit a roadblock after his Thai Premier League second-tier side Big Bang Chula United abruptly pulled out of the league midway through the season on 27 April.

The 26-year-old, who was the only representative from Singapore football in Thailand, revealed he was shocked at the club's decision and that he is ready to accept the worst. Notably, the former Tampines Rovers winger signed an year-long contract in January 2017 with BBCU, who were relegated from top-flight Thai Premier League at the end of last season.

BBCU were placed 14th on the 18-team league table with three wins from 11 games in the 2017 season, but their match against Songkhla scheduled for 29 April was cancelled after the players were told about the club's decision.

"When I came to Thailand a few months ago, who would have thought this would happen just a few months later? Nobody could predict this and I guess I am just unlucky that this happened," Hafiz said, as quoted by The Straits Times.

"I felt shocked and sad too, because it is not just the players who have been affected, but the entire team including the staff as well. We are all just waiting for official confirmation now, and I hope it will come in the next few days so that we can move on."

Having moved to Thailand with his wife and family, the distraught Singapore international hopes to find a club in TPL. However, he is also open to moving back to Singapore, where he found a lot of success last season as he was nominated for S.League Player of the Year. Hafiz though does not want a long layoff as he believes that it will hamper the chances of him making his way into the Singapore national team.

"Since I am here in Thailand, I will try to look for a team to join. I want to still continue to train, or return to Singapore to train with a club. It is important to keep training because I am also in the national team. So I cannot afford to lay off for weeks without football," Hafiz added.
