Gong Yoo recently held his first ever fan meeting in Taiwan on April 29, which had fans flocking from all over the globe to get a glimpse of the 'Goblin' star. It has now been discovered that the actor was securing funds from his fans to donate to a Taiwanese charity which will help children with serious illness. The actor was recently crowned best actor in a drama at the Baeksang Arts Awards for his role as Kim Shin/the Goblin in tvN's 'Goblin: The Lonely and Great God.'

Website Koreaboo notes that on April 29, at his fan meet held in Xinjiang Gymnasium, Taipei, a special collection of post cards from the 'Train to Busan' star was sold to fans to support a charity. As per reports, at least about 1,000 copies of such postcards were sold at the event and Gong Yoo was able to collect a total amount of $3,310.

Koreaboo notes that not only the profits made from the postcards but also a portion of the funds gathered from the fan meet itself will be turned over to the charity that will be helping the children from ages 3 to 18 years of age.

Dispatch had made a detailed report on April 1, noting that as per ET News, Gong Yoo will be donating 100,000 Taiwan dollars to children suffering from chronic diseases, as part of 'Gong Yoo Live: Make a Wish in Taiwan.' The postcard copies were each sold for 100 Taiwan Dollars. About 5,500 fans attended the event.

In the same event, Gong Yoo had talked about his work, his childhood and hobbies and even sang for his fans, noted Soompi. He made fan's dream come true when he sang a song while his fan played the tune on the guitar. He also recorded his voice so that fans could use them as alarm clocks. The 'Coffee Prince' actor even became a bit teary-eyed while watching a video from his Taiwanese fans.

The actor was also seen briefly wearing a black suit and a fedora like Lee Dong-wook's Grim Reaper character in 'Goblin.' He has a special friendship with Lee Dong-wook and often speaks fondly of him at fan meets. Gong Yoo also called Lee Dong-wook the saviour of his acting life at the Seoul fan meet of Dong-wook's Asia tour.

Gong Yoo also won "Best Drama Actor" at the 2017 Baeksang Art Awards. He was up against Park Bo-gum for 'Moonlight Drawn By Clouds,' Jo Jung-suk for 'Don't Dare To Dream,' and Han Suk-gyu for 'Romantic Doctor Kim.'

Gong Yoo's next Asia fan meet destination will be Hong Kong, on May 6.
