Scottish actor Gerard Butler undoubtedly has a huge female fan following around the globe. However, the actor reportedly had an embarrassing situation recently.

According to Life & Style, the 47-year-old actor got rejected by a woman, whom he met at Catch Restaurant in Los Angeles. Apparently she declined the actor because she felt he was way too old for her.

A source said: "Gerard tried to make a move on a gorgeous 20-something, but he was quickly shot down. The young woman then turned to her friends and said, 'Eww, that guy was old enough to be my grandpa!'"

"His buddies teased Gerard mercilessly and suggested he may need to change up his strategy," the insider added.

The actor, who gave up a career as a lawyer to pursue his dream, chased Hollywood fame in the late 1990s. In P.S. I Love You, his first film after 300 (he was praised for his breakout role as Leonidas), he played Irishman Gerry.

During a press conference for the film in 2007, he said: "I should give myself a break as well because I'm only playing characters. I'm not, unfortunately, like either of them in real life.

"Not quite as powerful as Leonidas and not quite as charming and sweet as 'Gerry'. I'm only letting myself down as well," he added.
