First trailer of Stephen King's The Mist promises something horrifying this summer [VIDEO]

In the trailer, a voice is heard saying; "There's something in the mist" and "it screws with your mind."

Stephen King is known for his terrifying horror stories and many of them are being adapted into equally horrific movies and TV series, such as It, The Shining and The Mist. Nearly a decade ago, Frank Darabont, the man behind the hit TV series 'The Walking Dead' had brought 'The Mist' into the big screen in 2007. Now after all these years, Christian Torpe decided to bring the classic 1980 novella, 'The Mist' to the small screen in association with Spike.

Spike released the first trailer for the series on Tuesday unveiling the new cast of characters as a strange mist rolls in. In the trailer, a voice is heard saying; "There's something in the mist" and "it screws with your mind."

The plot of the upcoming series is based on the story by Stephen King in which the residents of Bridgeville, Maine find themselves engulfed by a foreboding mist containing a myriad of inexplicable and bizarre threats that put their humanity to the test. A family in the small town is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.

The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy.

The story was reimagined for television by executive producer and writer Christian Torpe and produced for Spike by TWC-Dimension Television.

The new 10-episode drama is to premiere on Thursday, June 22 at 10 PM, ET/PT on Spike.
