Fight My Way ratings rise: Drama retains top spot for third consecutive week

Drama had begun with only 5.4 percent ratings.

KBS2's 'Fight My Way' is doing really well, thanks to its refreshingly sweet storyline about two best friends. The drama achieved a peak rating in its latest episode and has been able to retain its top spot in the same time slot.

As noted by Soompi, Fight My Way achieved a peak rating of 10.6 during its fifth episode that aired on June 5, as per AGB Nielsen Korea. This is a 0.6 percent increase from its previous episode which aired on May 30. It must be noted that the drama started rather humbly, with a 5.4 percent rating.

On the same time slot, SBS's 'My Sassy Girl' came out second, with 7.6 percent peak rating. On third was MBC's 'Lookout,' which gathered a peak viewership rating of 6.8 percent, as noted by website Soompi.

The reason behind the growing popularity of 'Fight My Way' is its relatable characters. Two young people, who are very simple and child-like, find themselves at the mercy of a complex adult world. Their struggles to navigate through a world that mostly prizes materiality while still maintaining their honesty are something very endearing and relatable.

It does help that the chemistry of Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won is very believable. They are reportedly very close in real life as well, which reflects on-screen. Also, the fact that they will eventually fall in love with each other, keeps the viewers glued to the drama.

Regarding their chemistry, the chief producer of 'Fight My Way' had this to say about Seo-joon and Ji-won during a recent interview: "Park Seo Joon and Kim Ji Won are actually very close in real life, too. They are taking care of each other and cheering each other on. They are both committed to their characters. They have good chemistry in real life, and they're having a lot of fun while filming."

The next episode of 'Fight My Way' airs tonight at 10 p.m. KST on KBS2.
