Niantic Labs has just started rolling out the latest Pokemon GO maintenance updates with minor bug fixes and feature improvements for both iOS and Android. The former gets the v1.25.0 update while the latter is updated to v0.55.0 for all Pokemon GO users across the globe.

As the update is being rolled out in phases, it may not yet be available in your country or region through official sources like Apple App Store and Google Play Store. However, the Android users have just got lucky, as the latest Pokemon GO v0.55.0 update is now available for download via Play Store as well as through APK Mirror.

Adopting the evolutionary model of updates, Niantic has made minor improvements to the game in order to uplift the overall user experience in the AR (augmented reality) world of Pokemon GO.

Some of the noteworthy additions into this update include significant improvements to the loading time and responsiveness of the game on Android smartphones and tablets, besides resolving the connectivity issues with Pokemon GO Plus accessory on the Android platform.

Meanwhile, Apple Watch users are in for a treat as the accessibility feature in the game has been upgraded to integrate iOS wheelchair support for Pokemon hunters. iOS users also get the minor font and text fixes, besides a slew of miscellaneous bug fixes as well as performance enhancements offered across all devices and platforms.

Although the manual Pokemon GO update for iOS is still unavailable, users may try checking for the update in iTunes as follows:

  • Launch iTunes > Go to the Updates section, locate Pokemon GO in the app list and hit the Update button.
  • Wait until the update (v1.25.0) installs and then sign in to your account to verify if any newer updates are available. The over-the-air update will be rolled out in phases worldwide and hence it is imperative that you keep checking both the Apple App Store as well as the iTunes Update section on a periodic basis.
