Indian film actor Shah Rukh Khan, considered the biggest superstar in Bollywood of all time, turns 51 on Wednesday.

Shah Rukh Khan, fondly known as SRK or King Khan, has acted in more than 80 Bollywood films and has a significant fan following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide and it goes without saying that the superstar is highly appreciated across Southeast Asia.

In 2008, Shah Rukh Khan became the first Indian movie star to receive the prestigious Malaysian title "Datuk" from the governor of Malaysia's southern Malacca state.

King Khan started his acting career in 1980 with appearances in several television series. He shot to fame with his portrayal of the quintessential romantic hero in a series of films, including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001).

According to Times of India, SRK this year planned to celebrate his birthday in the outskirts of Mumbai city in the western state of Maharastra, a deviation from his annual ritual of interacting with the media at his residence.

According to reports, the superstar was joined by director Karan Johar, actors Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor at a resort in the coastal town of Alibaug. Ii is also expected that other stars and celebrities will soon join King Khan, reported the newspaper.

Shah Rukh Khan's latest blockbuster movie Fan collected a whopping 792.5 million in India and 613.5 million from overseas territories. His next movie Dear Zindagi is scheduled to be released on 25 November 2016.

As the "Baadshah (King) of Bollywood" gears up for a grand birthday bash, Twitter is flooded with wishes from fans and co-actors for the superstar.
