Chelsea have confirmed on 30 January that they have agreed a deal with AS Roma to bring defender Emerson Palmieri to Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old's versatility will provide Antonio Conte more options during his team selection while picking players on the left side. He can play as a left-back, wing-back or in the more advanced role, which gives the former Juventus and Italy manager more options up front.
Emreson has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the west London club and will wear number 33 shirt at Chelsea.
"Emerson Palmieri has today become the latest addition to the Chelsea squad after completing a transfer from Italian side Roma. The 23-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the number 33 shirt," a statement read on Chelsea's official website.
The Brazilian has expressed his delight after completing a switch to Stamford Bridge and is fulfilling his childhood dream of playing in England's top flight club competition.
"I came here because it's a great team with a great history. Today I am realising one of my dreams to pull on the shirt of such a great club," Emerson told Chelsea's official website.
"English football is something I have been watching since I was 15 years old. It is a really beautiful game over here but it is going to be even more beautiful to play it."
Emreson will now challenge Marcos Alonso for a place in the starting XI for the left wing-back position. Chelsea are also closing in on completing a £18m deal in signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
