Changi Airport's Terminal 4 welcomed its first flight from Cathay Pacific Airways as it began its first full day of operations on Tuesday.

About 250 travellers from Hong Kong were among the first to arrive at Terminal 4 at 5.25am on October 31, via a Cathay Pacific flight.

Passengers who were on the flight were given a goodie tote bag containing a plush toy, fan, and cardholder. They also received orchids upon disembarking from the plane and were greeted with a performance by local instrumental band Lorong Boys at the baggage belt.

The new terminal is expected to receive and see off 20 flights, carrying close to 6,700 passengers, during its first 24 hours of operations, according to Changi Airport Group.

The airlines – Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, Spring Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, and four others from the AirAsia Group – will progressively shift their operations to T4 over the course of one week.

The new terminal features start-to-end self-service systems, allowing travellers to check in, deposit their baggage and even go through immigration via automated systems.
