BIGBANG, FT ISland and JYP cancel upcoming events in Thailand after King's death

JYP will issue details on ticket refunds via the domestic concert provider's SNS portals soon

Thailand is mourning the death of its longest-reigning monarch, King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

To mark the mourning period, many Korean bands have cancelled their scheduled performances in the country. Bigbang's upcoming event, BIGBANG MADE [V.I.P] TOUR IN BANGKOK, has been dropped, whereas FT Island's Bangkok concert is pushed to later date.

Both of the authorities has passed on their condolence with an update regarding the schedules.

BigBang's YG Entertainment relayed: "We deeply regret to inform that the BIGBANG MADE [V.I.P] TOUR IN BANGKOK scheduled on Oct 29-30 has been canceled due to the announcement of national mourning period. BIGBANG and YG Entertainment extend their deepest condolences to the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Thailand and the people of Thailand, on the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.Our thoughts are with the people of Thailand during this difficult time."

FT Island has also issued a postponement statement but the band did not disclose the future dates of the event:

"Due to the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, we are sorry to announce that the 2016 FTISLAND [THE TRUTH] IN BANGKOK due to be held on November 12th at the GMM LIVE AT CENTRAL WORLD will be postponed to a later date. We apologize to fans for the inconvenience and will announce the postponed date in future."

As per reports, JYP has also called off its Mix and Match event, scheduled to take place on November 5-6. The company will issue the details on ticket refunds via the domestic concert provider's SNS portals soon.

The venerable ninth monarch of Thailand, who kept the nation unified for 70 long years, breathed his last on 13 October. He was 88.

The Thai cabinet declared an official mourning period in the country. According to CNN, Friday was approved a public holiday for government offices, and the cabinet is reportedly asking the public not to hold any entertainment related activities for the next 30 days.
