9 Singaporeans injured after bus overturns on way back from Malaysia

The police are investigating whether the accident was due to reckless driving or mechanical problems.

At least 9 Singaporeans were injured after a double-decker bus carrying 12 people crashed and overturned at Karak Highway on its way back from Malaysia's Genting Highlands on Wednesday afternoon.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said apparently the bus have rammed into the road divider before overturning near the Genting Sempah tunnel. Reports say that the impact of the crash caused the bus to skid for about 20 metres.

"Ten people were injured in the crash. We do not know the extent of their injuries. We are still waiting for the full report, including the identity of the victims," he told The Star Online.

ACP Ali also added that police were investigating whether the accident was due to reckless driving or mechanical problems.

A spokesman for Grassland Express & Tours said none of the people were critically injured. The victims were sent to various hospitals in Bentong, Selayang and Kuala Lumpur.
