Whisper to get a one-episode extension

This is because the drama will not be aired on May 9 due to the presidential election ballot count broadcast.

SBS drama Whisper is likely to have a 17 episode run on the television. According to sources, the drama will be wrapped up on May 22. However, the latest is that the thriller will have a one episode extension and will end on May 23. This is because the drama will not be aired on May 9 due to the presidential election ballot count broadcast.

The drama is a legal thriller that narrates the tales of a detective Shin Young-joo, played by actress Lee Bo-young. In a turn of events, she teams up with a kindhearted judge Lee Dong-joon, played by actor Lee Sang-yoon, to uncover the nation's biggest scam in the defence sector. The duo has earlier shared screen space together for SBS's variety show 'Running Man' as guests.

The thrilling drama has already emerged as the leader in the viewership rating tables. As per AGB Nielsen Korea, the drama achieved 15 percent in nationwide rankings and 16.7 percent in the Seoul National Capital Area in the latest episode on April 4. "Lee Bo-young starrer was able to clinch the top spot in ratings out of all the Monday-Tuesday dramas. There was a 1.2 percent rise in nationwide rankings from the 13.8 percent viewership ratings of the third episode that aired on April 3," Soompi reported earlier.

Whisper is widely appreciated for Lee Bo-young's powerful and charismatic performance. In addition, it has an intriguing plot laced with top class performances. Penned by Park Kyung-soo and directed by Lee Myung-woo, the show runs from Monday to Tuesday on SBS.

An earlier article on Soompi opined, "What's also incredibly fascinating is that in many ways, Yeong Joo and Dong Joon are the exact opposite: Yeong Joo comes from a middle-class working family while Dong Joon's father directs a very large hospital. It will be interesting to see how these differences and similarities between the two will complicate their relationship and the story as it progresses."
