The Weeknd does not want to jinx his relationship with Selena Gomez. Bella Hadid's former boyfriend hopes their celebrity tag will not take a toll on their romantic life.

Rumours that the Starboy hitmaker and Justin Bieber's former girlfriend are dating started after the two were seen kissing while leaving dinner at Giorgio Baldi restaurant on 10 January in Santa Monica, California. A source told Hollywood Life: "He wants to shut down all the extra stuff, he doesn't want to be seen out and about everywhere with her and all over the news and social media as a couple. He wants to be known as an artist and the relationship can thrive behind closed doors."

"He is not in any mood to be the next Bennifer or Brangelina and if it gets to those crazy levels he will shut down the relationship immediately," the source added. "He doesn't want to be a pawn in anyone's game, he doesn't want his relationships to become a Taylor Swift type joke."

Gomez seems to have finally moved on from Bieber. The two started dating in 2010 and have had an on-and-off relationship until 2014.

The former Disney star had previously revealed that she is unhappy with the constant scrutiny about her relationship with Bieber. She told W magazine: "I'm so exhausted. I honestly am so done. I care about his health and well-being. But I can't do it anymore."

"To me it was: I'm 18, I have a boyfriend, we look cute together, we like that. Then I got my heart broken and I cared. Because people had no idea what was going on, but everywhere it was a million different things. I was kind of in a corner, banging my head against the wall. I didn't know where to go," Gomez added.
